1.2 million iOS 5.1.1 devices jailbroken with Absinthe 2.0

The Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak is now responsible for jailbreaking more than 1.2 million iOS 5.1.1 devices since its release on Friday. The Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak supports nearly every iOS device, including the iPhone 4S and the just-released new iPad.

Some stats since release of ‪#Absinthe - 211,401 jailbroken iPad3's and 973,086 devices newly jailbroken! ‪#JBFTW ! ;D

While over 365 million cumulative iOS devices have been sold to date, there's no way of knowing how many are still active. Given that every iOS device generation tends to outsell all previous generations combined, the number of active devices is likely quite high.

Still, 1.2 million jailbreaks in three days, on the latest firmware, is a big number. It shows that, despite the additional functionality Apple has added to iOS 5, many users still want the freedom to tweak and personalize their devices beyond stock settings, and run apps beyond those approved by Apple's official App Store (and if it's for less legitimate reasons, they should read this).

In an iMore poll on the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak, 44% of readers said they'd already jailbroken with Absinthe 2.0, and almost 12% were simply waiting to see if there were any issues before jailbreaking. 27% were not interested in the jailbreak at all, and 17% didn't rule it out, but weren't currently interested.

If you're interested in jailbreak but worried that it is a complicated process, fear not, we have a iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak how-to walkthough showing the complete process, as well as a full jailbreak starters guide to get you going once you're done. Were you one of the 1.2 million users who jailbroke iOS 5.1.1 using Absinthe 2.0 this weekend? If so, let us know which device(s) you jailbroke and what your experience has been like so far -- loving it or hating it? If you haven't jailbroken, let us know
